Uplift's Story

Growing up in a small-town community in Western Kansas, our owner and founder, Kelli Huslig, has always had a deep desire to build relationships and serve others. In an effort to bring that spirit of community to Lawrence, KS, Uplift Coffee was born!

The flagship store, located at 624 N 2nd Street in North Lawrence, sought to serve the community by opening in an area that was seen as a "coffee desert." We crafted a menu with delicious food and drinks and furnished our space with ample indoor and outdoor seating.

When our doors opened, we were lovingly embraced by the community - until the unfortunate day we had to close due to the coronavirus pandemic. Uplift faced a unique challenge: how could we remain active in our mission to uplift and elevate others if no one could come into our shop?

Despite these obstacles, Uplift persevered. We started going mobile in our original Uplift Jeep, serving coffee in neighborhood driveways, local gathering places, businesses, and more. Shortly after, our Uplift Coffee Truck joined the team to help better serve our community wherever we were needed.

Since then, we've opened a second location in 2022 in West Lawrence at 4000 W 6th Street, featuring indoor seating and a drive-thru. This addition also brought an in-house bakery, allowing us to expand our pastry, food, and catering options while growing our team.

In 2023, we welcomed our third location, Uplift Baldwin, in Baldwin City, further expanding our reach beyond the Lawrence community. Our Baldwin store is located at 112 6th Street in Baldwin City, Kansas. In 2025 we have added our Coffee Roasterie. Uplift Roaster goal is to bring you the best coffee from the best coffee farms that highlight relationships and the highest quality in Coffee. We are so excited to share this with you!`

Our story has been unique, but what makes it truly special is the customers we've met along the way. Day in and day out, across our three locations and coffee truck, we are blessed with the opportunity to serve our community and make a difference for our customers and local vendors.

Our hope is that in some way we "Uplift" and elevate everyone we come into contact with—and we aim to continue our mission for many years to come.
